Benjamin Harrison on Charles J. Guiteau, Garfield’s assassin, July 4th, 1881.

Quoted on July 4th, 1881, by the Indianapolis Journal reporter who broke the news to Senator Harrison. There were rumors at the time of a possible conspiracy linked to Vice President Arthur, which Harrison helped to discredit.
